Discover a Great Attack

Chessorb Classic, Issue #115 -- GOTM #85

Chessorb Classic
The discovered attack is a great tactic to steal tempi and crush a helpless opponent. We have a game where a discovered attack is used to finish the contest. The final attack has an almost windmill-like feel to it.

The winning attack is skillfully massaged into place by means of some clever tactics. Ruinous sacrifices are offered and when they are rejected, the attackers close the net quickly.

Material is then systematically picked off and he with the defenders is soon forced to concede defeat. It is a victory achieved through masterful marshalling of the troops. A great demonstration of a quick and brutal demolition of the enemy camp. The final assault is executed in just four moves.

Our game this month was played in Moscow in 1935. K. Gerasimov (I couldn't find his first name) had the White pieces and a 14 year old Vassily Smyslov (the 1st Winter King of the Botvinnik era) had Black.
