Welcome to ECO Index A. This is the beginning of an opening series that carries right through to ECO Index E. This index covers irregular openings and flank openings. These are openings that don't begin with 1.e4 or 1.d4.

The main irregulars are the Anderssen's Opening variations, the Ware variations Opening, the Sokolsky Opening variations. These are followed by the other rare first moves.

The main flank openings are Larsen's Opening, the Bird's Opening variations, the Reti Opening variations and the substantial English Opening variations. From there it moves on to the Queen's Pawn Game, the Benoni and the Dutch. Enjoy.
